Answer Key Conditional.

a) If I knew his phone number, I would phone him.
b) If you didn't go to bed late, you wouldn't be tired.
c) If the weather was better, we would go to the beach.
d) If I were you, I would talk to the teacher.
e) If she had known it, she wouldn't have gone.
f) If they had closed the house, the thieves wouldn't have gone into it.
g) If I had talked to him, he would have understood it.

English: conditional.

In English there are 4 conditionals:

- Conditional 0: If you study, you pass; si estudias, apruebas (present + present).

- Conditional 1: If you study, you will pass; si estudias, aprobarás (present + future).

- Conditional 2: If you studied, you would pass; si estudiaras, aprobarías (past -2ª columna- + would + present).

- Conditional 3: If you had studied, you would have passed; si hubieras estudiado, habrías aprobado (past perfect -3ª columna- + would + have + 3ª columna).

Practice Exercise:
Translate into English (2nd. and 3rd. conditional):
a) Si yo supiera su número de teléfono, le llamaría (a él).
b) Si no te fueras a dormir tarde, no estarías cansado.
c) Si el clima fuera mejor, iríamos a la playa.
d) Yo de ti (si fuera tú), hablaría con el profesor.
e) Si ella lo hubiera sabido, no habría ido.
f) Si ellos hubieran cerrado la casa, los ladrones no habrían entrado.
g) Si yo hubiera hablado con él, lo habría entendido.
